US Market Access Practice Leader, Healthcare Strategy

The Role

groupH is looking for a recognized pricing, reimbursement, and market access (PRMA) expert to lead its US market access practice. The ideal candidate has at least 10 years’ experience within pharma/biotech market access and/or market access consulting to pharma/biotech, will lead strategic market access projects and contribute the market access component to larger engagements (such as market opportunity assessments, disease area strategy or commercial due diligence), will build a sustainable client base, and develop relevant intellectual capital to support the practice. He or she will discuss development assets with national level payers at peer level.

Location: Virtual role – the ideal candidate can work remotely from anywhere in the continental US, preferably East Coast / Boston area, with a flexibility to travel to domestic clients on an occasional as-needed basis.

Responsibilities

Delivery of Strategic Assignments

  • Scope and resource complex projects with many diverse strands
  • Direct engagements and drive execution of projects to ensure delivery of a cohesive insightful offering to the client
  • Lead strategic market access projects for early- and mid-stage biopharma products, and contribute the market access component to larger engagements
  • Work with leading payers to:
    • Understand the payer landscape for the therapy area
    • Characterize the value proposition for a product in development and understand the payer value elements in the TPP
    • Review the evidence generation plan, assess against payers’ evidence requirements and understand the implications of any gaps
    • Understand the price potential and rationale and any potential access restrictions for given price points
    • Identify any potential market access hurdles and develop potential approaches to overcome these hurdles
    • Interact with and co-develop client strategies with other senior members of the groupH team
    • Be viewed by clients as the senior PRMA person / point of contact for the project

Client Business Generation and Relationship Management

  • Develop trusted and sustainable relationships with biotech and pharma clients
  • Actively seek expansion or roll-over opportunities
  • Develop & sell into new client base
  • Build a sustainable & recognizable PRMA business with focus on strategic market access and value creation

Intellectual Capital + Practice Development

  • Responsible for the development of the US PRMA practice area
  • Act as a reference point for knowledge or expertise in US PRMA within groupH
  • Add to the intellectual capital of the business and speak at conferences and industry gatherings
  • Contribute to the development of expertise in emerging topics and therapy areas
  • Mentor and coach consulting staff
  • Contribute to ongoing improvement in methodologies for use in consulting projects

Who you are

  • Recognized expert in strategic US PRMA
  • A sound understanding of the domestic PRMA environment
  • Experience with primary and secondary research methodologies, and their application to solving commercial issues related to PRMA
  • Able to have peer-to-peer discussions with senior / national-level US payers
  • Experience in developing recommendations for developmental products to optimize PRMA strategy
  • Have a track-record of building a client base, winning and successfully delivering strategic consultancy assignments
  • Possess a ‘boardroom’ consulting presence
  • Demonstrated leadership skills § Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, pharmacy, pharmacology or related science field required; with a Master of Science or Business Administration preferred
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience within pharma/biotech market access and/or a market access consulting to pharma/biotech
  • Exceptional analytical, logical, critical reasoning and skills
  • A willingness and ability to travel as needed
